| A sampling of traditional Japanese culinary customs:
Drink sake warmed or chilled. To warm sake, heat to just above body temperature.
Never pour your own beverage. Offer to pour others and allow them to serve you.
Enjoy green tea before and during your meal.
Leave your teacup full when you are finished drinking. An empty cup means you would like additional beverage.
It is acceptable to eat maki-zushi or sushi rolls with chopsticks. Nigiri-zuzhi can be eaten with chopsticks or your fingers.
Heat moist hand towels in the microwave and offer to guests at the beginning and end of the sushi meal.
Use both hands when giving or receiving food, the gesture is considered polite.
Use the handling end of chopsticks to pass food, if serving utensils are not provided
Do not leave rice on your plate at the end of a meal it is considered bad manners.
